Album Details: For her piano treatment of 12 of Rodgers and Hart's best remembered standards, Beegie Adair makes the basic point that there are essentially two ways to render the team's music: as uptempo numbers for dancing, or as romantic ballads for...well, whatever. But even so, the listener will notice that however jazzy the faster numbers get, they still retain at least a hint of Lorenz Hart's characteristic melancholy, while the love song numbers are always in some kind of jazz-time, no matter how slow they are.
